Mohammed Aliu Momoh is an Assistant General Manager and Head of Broker Dealer Regulation at the Nigerian Stock Exchange. He has the overall responsibility for enforcing the rules governing “Dealing Member Firms” of The Nigerian Stock Exchange.
He Joined the Nigerian Stock Exchange in 2004, and has at one time or the other headed the Listing Unit and Issuers Services Department of the Quotations and Listing Department, Head of Strategy Department of the Exchange. He also served as the Project Manager, Operating Model for the transformation programme of The Exchange, represented The Exchange on the Administrative Proceeding Committee of the Securities and Exchange Commission amongst other project related duties and committee he is serving on.
Prior to joining The Exchange, he was the Group Financial Accountant of Dangote amongst other positions held in the organization, Senior Manager at Regal Finance, trained and qualified in as an Authorized Dealing Clerk TRW Stockbrokers Limited, Partner at Mohammadu & Associate, Dealer at the Consolidated Investment Limited (a member of the Nigerian Stock Exchange).
He currently serves on the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of Nigeria. He is a resource person and facilitator for Nigerian Capital, Market Institute, WAIFEM, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria and many other professional and academic institutions.
He has served in various Committees of Council of the Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, and has been an Assessor and Examiner for these professional bodies. He was also Coordinating Consultant and member of the delegation to verify suitability of the Youth Information Center for the National Poverty Eradication Programme for the Niger Delta in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
A member of the marketing Commission of the Nigerian Olympic Committee, he served on the Sub Committee of the Council of The Nigerian Exchange on the review of tax law and issues relating to the Nigerian Capital Market and also represented the Exchange and Market Operators on the Securities and Exchange Commission Committee on Tax and related issues.
EDUCATION
He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Banking and Finance (Second Class Upper Division), Post Graduate Diploma and Master’s Degree in Economics from Ambrose Alli University, Legal studies (specializing in Administrative law and Public Policy Studies) from the Lagos State University and Corporate Governance from Leeds Metropolitan University in the United Kingdom.
Professionally, he is a certified Project Management Professional and Public Private Partnership Specialist. A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers , the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Arbitrators of Nigeria.
He is an alumnus of the West African Institute of Finance and Economic Management (WAIFEM), World Bank Institute, IMF Institute and Lagos Business School.
