Oscar N. Onyema
Chief Executive Officer
 

Oscar Onyema is the Chief Executive Officer of The Nigerian Stock Exchange, a position he assumed in April 2011.  Prior to this role, he served for over 20 years in United States financial markets and the Nigerian information technology sector. Mr. Onyema is the Chairman of Central Securities Clearing System (C​SCS) Limited, the clearing house for the Nigerian capital market; he is also a Council member of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers of Nigeria (CIS). He is the Vice President of the African Securities Exchanges Association, and a Global Agenda Council member of the World Economic Forum. ​​​

In 2009, Mr. Onyema founded Market Strategists LLC and consulted under the Gerson Lehrman Group in the United States, successfully enabling decision-makers at investment firms and corporations better understand financial products, services, companies, and issues in global financial markets. Mr. Onyema served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer at American Stock Exchange (Amex), which he joined in 2001.  He was the first person of colour to hold that position, and was instrumental in integrating the Amex equity business into the NYSE Euronext equity business after their acquisition of Amex in 2008.  He then managed the NYSE Amex equity trading business, which he helped position as a premier market for small and mid-cap securities.

For approximately five years, Mr. Onyema served as Adjunct Lecturer of Economics at Pace University, New York.  In 2008, he received the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Series 7, 24 and 63 brokerage licenses through Seamount Execution Services LLC, a FINRA member firm in New York.  He remains active in the Security Traders Association of New York, and in the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, USA. In the late 1990s, he held various positions at New York Mercantile Exchange where he managed futures market structure initiatives.  He started his post-NYSC career in Nigeria at Data Processing Maintenance and Services Ltd. (an IBM business partner) where he sold mid-range IBM systems. ​​​​

EDUCATION

Mr. Onyema holds an MBA in Finance and Investments from Baruch College, New York.  He received his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.

Adeolu Bajomo
Executive Director
Market Operations and Technology

Mr. Ade Bajomo, Executive Director of The Nigerian Stock Exchange for Market Operations and Technology, leads the operations and technology transformation of the leading Sub-Saharan African exchange as it repositions for growth and global leadership through effective exploitation of technology and efficient business and market operations processes. 

With a wealth of experience and track record in the global financial services sector spanning banking, capital markets, asset management and insurance, Mr. Bajomo has led major transformation and service improvement programmes, participated in business growth initiatives and technology and operations integration of acquired entities in the sector. 

Prior to joining The Exchange, he worked at Barclays Bank PLC., leading the Replatforming Programmes for Africa and Indian Ocean region to achieve significant technology and business operations benefits in the region.

Mr. Bajomo has also held several director level/leadership positions in the UK financial services sector, including Technology Director at Fortis Bank UK, Head of IT Systems and Strategy at Pearl Insurance UK and management roles at Deutsche Bank and Morgan Grenfell Asset Management. 

He has over 23 years of professional experience and is a chartered member of the British Computer Society.

Haruna Jalo-Waziri
Executive Director
Business Development

Mr. Haruna Jalo-Waziri is an economist with over 18 years of Capital Market and Investment Management experience covering Regulation, Deal Origination, Execution as well as Fund Management. He has been involved in various successful ground breaking deals such as Heineken Euro Bond, and British American Tobacco M&A, among others. 

Until his appointment, he was the MD/CEO, UBA Asset Management Limit​ed which he led from 2009. Prior to this, he worked at the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and Afrinvest West Africa (formerly SECTRUST). Jalo-Waziri commenced his career in the Quotations Department at The Nigerian Stock Exchange. He also worked at Kakawa Discount House Ltd, where he started the Asset Management Department and rose to become Head of Asset Management; the department eventually transformed to become Kakawa Asset Management Limited.  

EDUCATION
Mr. Jalo-Waziri is a graduate of the University of Maiduguri, an alumnus of Lagos Business School and the Venture Capital Institute of America. ​

Tinuade T. Awe, Esq.
Head, Legal and Regulation Division
Secretary to Council​
 ​

 ​Ms. Tinuade Awe was appointed Head of the Legal and Regulation Division and Secretary to the Council of The Exchange on August 1, 2012. She is a member of the Executive Committee of The Exchange.  Prior to her appointment, she had consulted with The Exchange in different capacities. 

She has a wealth of experience and a solid track record across organizations on three continents, including with the United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, in The Hague, the Netherlands; the United Nations Compensation Commission in Geneva, Switzerland; and top tier law firms in Nigeria and New York.  Ms. Awe has been involved in major regulatory initiatives, including as Project Director of the CBN-SEC Joint Task Force on the Intervened Banks from April to August 2010. 

For seven (7) years, she was an attorney with the New York office of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett, a leading law firm with global presence.  At Simpson Thacher, her clients included global financial institutions and capital markets players. She also represented regulated entities in their dealings with their regulators, including the Office of the Comptroller of Currency and the Securities and Exchange Commission in the United States.  Ms. Awe commenced her legal career with Banwo & Ighodalo, one of the leading capital markets law firms in Nigeria. 

During 2007 and 2008, Ms. Awe took time off from the law to indulge her passion for education and leadership as Anglophone West Africa Associate Director of Admissions for the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa, a two-year educational institution established to develop young African leaders in all genres of human endeavor.  At the Academy, she assisted with the design and development of the Academy’s student recruitment and public awareness strategy for Anglophone West Africa. 

Ms. Awe has over eighteen (18) years of professional experience and is a member of both the Nigerian and New York Bars.   

Her interests include education, gender and development, art, and traveling. ​

She holds LL.M Degrees from Harvard Law School and The London School of Economics and Political Science, as well as an LL.B Degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria.  ​

Bola Adeeko
Head, Corporate Services Division

Mr. Bola Adeeko is the Head, Corporate Services Division of The Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) where he has general oversight functions for Administration, Corporate Communications, Government Relations and Human Resources Departments of The Exchange.

Bola has over 20 years of broad professional experience spanning various functions such as Finance, Program Management, Product Development and Sales-Relationship Management, working for large global firms such as JPMorgan Chase, First Data Corporation and Sara Lee.

Prior to joining the Nigerian bourse, he was a Vice President, Global Trade Finance at JPMorgan Chase, where he most recently was responsible for developing new trade finance business and managing a client portfolio of Fortune 1000 companies in the Oil and Gas, Mining and Power sectors. During his 11 year stint with the bank, he also managed strategic large scale program initiatives and attained a Six-Sigma Black Belt certification from leading one of such efforts.

Bola is a member of the Executive Committee of The Exchange and the Management Liaison to the Governance & Remuneration Committee of the National Council of The NSE. He is a director on NSE Consult (subsidiary of NSE) Board and a member of the Institute of Directors Nigeria.

Taba Peterside
General Manager
Listings Sales & Retention

Mrs Taba Peterside has twenty six years of local and international experience in investment banking, financial sector regulation and analysis, and multi country programme management.  She is currently a General Manager at The Nigerian Stock Exchange and Head of Listings Sales and Retention, responsible for bringing new companies to list and strengthening relationships with already listed companies. She joined The Exchange in November 2008 and has previously headed the Compliance, Regulation & Risk Management, and Alternative Securities Market functions. 

As head of Corporate Finance at the then Investment Banking & Trust Company (now Stanbic IBTC), she grew its business to become the pre-eminent name in Nigerian corporate finance. At the Canada Deposit Insurance Corporation, one of the world’s most respected deposit insurers, she was responsible for risk management and corporate governance compliance among insured banks.  Mrs Peterside has also been a Program Manager with the International Finance Corporation (the private sector arm of the World Bank group) based in Ghana, from where she led equipment leasing technical assistance programs in Ghana, Tanzania and Rwanda. Under her leadership, Ghana and Tanzania experienced a significant rise in leasing volumes, and a leasing law was passed in Tanzania. Mrs Peterside was also a pioneer staff of the Africa Finance Corporation.

Mrs Peterside has an active interest in financial market development and economics and is an accomplished public speaker and presenter. She has been a member of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group, and a correspondent for the Economist Intelligence Unit, for which she authored specialised financial sector reports on Nigeria and Canada. She also participates actively on several committees on various aspects of capital market development.

EDUCATION​

Mrs Peterside holds a B.A (Hons) in Development Studies (Economics) from the University of Kent, Canterbury, England, and a Masters in Development Economics from Dalhousie University, Halifax , Canada. Over the course of her career, she has undertaken a variety of professional development and leadership courses. She is also a Member of the Institute of Directors Nigeria and a member of Women in Management, Business and the Public Service (Wimbiz).​

Cyril Eigbobo
Chief Financial Officer

Cyril has a wealth of experience in the financial services sector spanning banking and investment management. He was most recently the Chief Finance Officer of Access Investments and Securities Limited (the asset management subsidiary of Access Bank Plc) where he set up, and had oversight of financial control and back office operations.
 
Prior to Access Investments and Securities Limited, Cyril also held several senior management level positions including Finance Controller at Afrinvest West Africa Limited, Head of Financial Performance Management at United Bank for Africa Plc and Chief Inspector at Lead Bank Plc.
 
He has led and participated in major business process change initiatives and IT implementation projects.
Cyril has over 20 years professional experience.
