Investor Education

The NSE currently offers ad-hoc training for all external audiences—market operators and investors who show interest in knowing more about the Exchange and the Nigerian capital market. Although this is not one of the exchange’s primary services, it is an important requirement, given the role the Exchange plays in the capital market. By enabling the acquisition of knowledge and skills, the Exchange is investing in specific useful competencies that will positively impact on the growth of the capital market.

Investors' Clinic
This is one of the new investor education initiatives designed by The Exchange to address low investor confidence and create better informed investors. The maiden edition was conducted in partnership with Global Institutional Securities and Wealth Management firm Morgan Stanley on February 15, 2012 at The MUSON Centre in Lagos. The one-day clinic had in attendance top retail investors from Dealing Member firms across the country, who came in to share their investment experiences as well as learn from experts, strategies on how to properly structure their investment portfolios.

As a follow-up to the highly successful maiden edition, The NSE organized an Institutional Investors’ Clinic in Lagos on September 26, 2012 in partnership with Renaissance Capital. The was targeted at Institutional Investors -Fund Managers, Insurance Firms, Pension Funds Administrators and Regulators in the nation’s financial system.

The Exchange also organized a Retail Investors’ Clinic in Lagos on May 9, 2013 in partnership with Greenwich Trust, Stanbic IBTC Asset Management and FBN Capital. The clinic themed “Investing Strategies for the Prudent Investor” was targeted at professional bodies.
